USC News

Picked up something that I thought you might all enjoy.
The USC staff is concerned about the Ohio State game for
several reasons. They are concerned about bringing in a
new starter at quarterback. They think we will be an even
better defense this fall and that we will be faster.
Despite the fact that they have lost an entire linebacking
corps, they think they will be an even faster defense. The
fastest of the Carroll era. They do not believe Pryor can
beat them with his feet. He is going to have to beat them
with his arm. They seem concerned about Posey.

TP can beat anyone with his feet.
If JT does what I suggest and run two units of OLs in and out all day, he will wear out that Defense badly. OSU has a TON of weapons, and TP can light them up Posey is a good one, but the minute they take their eyes off of the rest of them, watch out. Sanz, Small, Washington, Flash, Stoney, etc. There are too many playmakers on the field at the same time for USC to possibly cover all of them. And the minute they do. OOPS TP will take off for a long TD run!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They can't possibly cover it all.
It is physically impossible.
We are going to watch TP mature in front of our eyes.
If they contain his run. we get open deep. If they cover us deep. he takes off running. They have to give us something.

USC is ready to play anywhere. They do well in big games and away from home. Saying they are concerned is nothing more than saying they will get ready for us like they do all games. Obviously they know our strengths and weakness's. We can also expect the players to tell the media they knew what was coming. WE ARE PREDICTABLE.

Let's face the reality. USC will dominate us this year like they did last year.

Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results.

I would absolutely agree that Pryor cannot beat USC with his feet alone. He cannot beat USC with his arm, alone. It is when you combine those two glorious things that will make him so damn impossible to defend.

I would hope after the 2006 Rose Bowl USC would understand what a QB like that can do...

Absolutely right.

We'll see. They did a fine job blanketing our offense last year. It's fine to be a fast, aggressive defense so long as you're also smart. Will they play so aggressively that they take themselves out of plays? Moreover, if they do will we capitalize on it with plays designed to do so, ie. screens, bootlegs, and FB/TE dumps?

I think both sides upgraded their speed at the LB position, but there's more to football than just speed. The questions above I think can be asked about both teams at this moment.

The outcome of this game has nothing to do with what USC and it's coaches and players think, but it has everything to do with what OSU's players think. It's no secret that USC thinks they can beat anyone at anytime at any venue. Can the Bucks match that swagger and intensity? Pryor has that mindset, but he'll need 21 other players to come into the game and maintain that mindset as well. OSU's physical talent could be an exact replica of USC's, but if the Bucks don't match USC inside the helmets, the physical aspects will be irrelevant.

USC is nothing more than an updated juggernaut of the Miami program of 7-10 years ago. OSU overcame the Hurricanes when no one else expected them to, can they do it again vs the Trojans?

Couldn't agree more--speed is great, but it is far from everything. And, it will take more than a fast defense to stop Pryor on his feet. They will need to be very physical, as I expect him to really bring it that night. They will have a fine defense, but I expect the Buckeye offense to do much better this year. The real question in my mind is "Will the Buckeye DL be able to control the SC OL?" That question will likely decide the game.
OSU going down

28 to 31 point loss. Knuckleheads inside 270 still believe all the hype. This loss will set back team and conference a decade

Even if OSU does lose by 31 points I seriously doubt it's going to "set back the team and conference a decade". Either way, I don't anticipate another loss of that magnitude.

Keys to game is the lines, USC has arguably the best 0-line in the country and we should have one of the best d-lines. And then i think the more important factor is how our O-line looks against spicer, griffen and those boys. Man do i hope adams and shugarts can get some much needed injury free time in the next few weeks.

OSU's DLine will have to be MUCH better than last year to pull this off ... USC's line was supposed to be green last year and showed itself to be fantastic, it will only be a year better now. Without the ability to pressure the QB with the front 4 OSU will have big problems. Gibson/Williams need to be getting after it and no stupid penalties

Wait til after the game. Give me the thumbs down then when I come back to remind you that your team is inferior and should stay away from scheduling a man's team.

USC rolls up OSU by 35

USC's young too troll. I don't doubt that they have more talent or that they'll win. It won't be a 35 point loss in the shoe but it will probably be a loss. It hurts but USC beats almost everyone they play. (Shrugs) Hopefully OSU can get some confidence back and start winning big games again.

You're kidding right? Or do you not understand what you're watching? Running the option at SC with Boeckman last year was predictable? The unbalanced line and the Brandon Saine package against LSU was predictable? Using Pryor as a WR in the redzone and throwing it to him against Texas was predictable? I could go on and but you apparently don't have a clue what you're watching. You can only design so much gadgetry, in the end talent and execution will win games.

SC has talent on top of talent and if you think OSU is losing because of coaching then you are welcome to live in the land of ignorance. Depsite the fact OSU is more experienced and atleast as talented at the two most important places on the field (QB and DL) it's going to be a struggle to win this one. But if you're so sure about a blowout and are willing to give me a bunch of points then we should meet and secure a friendly wager. smilies/smiley.gif
Get over it - a loss hurts more at home
written by Rhetorical Jerk, July 28, 2009
Dear Mads,

You don't get your butt beat as badly as last year with a few wrong turns. It was not just talent but a combination of both talent and coaching. My Boys could have easily scored over 40 last year and will do so this year. Tress has few gimmicks I am sure - but nothing a Pop Warner coach couldn't overcome. Wage away - Buckeyes are far from good.

RJ,

Hiding behind the anonymity of the computer and making statements is worthless. Is there money to back up the mouth? We can let Duane hold it and donate a holders fee. Of course I'm not sure your mommy will let you break your piggy bank for this endeavor. And your piggybank don't have the kind of coin you'd need.

The Trojans are the most talented team in the nation the last decade but the seemingly annual collapse against Stanford, Oregon St, etc. is always there. Is that because of that great coaching you're talking about? Couldn't a Pop Warner coach have beaten those teams with USC's talent?

In reality they are a very talented team and have a good coaching staff. But if you're willing to back up your mouth please let us know and we can arrange an agreement.
Under your skin ?

Mads,

Did not claim to be hiding. My statements are no more severe or out of line than the pro Buckeye statements made or garbage that is spewed out after a Buckeye loss.

Maybe if the Buckeyes respond with your written passion I would be a Big Loser. Believe me - I want to be wrong on this one.

Mainly just provoking thought - Possibly diminish some of 270 Buckeye Mania that exist in that town where everybody believes there team is god's gift to football. Nothing will soothe the soul better than a good kick in the ass. Maybe the Buckeyes need another before they make the changes everyone can see.

No doubt USC and Florida have been in another class the last couple years. And as good as last year's linebackers were, I don't doubt they'll be faster at that position group. That said, who knows if they'll play assignment football and be so sure on the tackling as Cushing, Matthews, and Malagua.

I would think if USC pursues as hard as they have in the past and TP has even a modicum of success passing the ball, a lane will open up for him to run a long one.
